Laboratory of Measuring Techniques for Environmental Engineering

The scope of laboratory covers examination and evaluation of physical parameters of the building materials that influence indoor air quality taking into consideration the need to increase energetic efficiency of the buildings. This gives the possibility of cooperation with producers of building materials for those objects with the increased energetic efficiency, ecological building materials or waste generating companies that would introduce its utilization for building sector. Another possibility of potential collaboration are the producers of instrumentation for moisture evaluation in porous media.

Measuring setup 1: Laboratory stand for evaluation of moisture properties of building materials.
The stand is equipped with the appliances to measure moisture of porous media – electrical multimeters: resistance, capacitance and reflectometric, vacuum dryier.

Scope of examinations:

  • Calibration of electric meters for moisture evaluation of porous materials – resistance, dielectric (capacitance and reflectometric),
  • Laboratory measurement of material moisture using direct technique (gravimetric),
  • Laboratory measurement of material moisture using indirect techniques (resistance and dielectric),
  • Evaluation of porous material salinity,
  • Monitoring of moisture changes of porous materials using electric techniques.

Measuring setup 2: Laboratory stand for evaluation of thermal parameters of building materials.
The stand is equipped in high quality measuring device to measure the thermal conductivity coefficient in steady state – Bock apparatus type.

Scope of examinations:

  • Laboratory measurement of thermal conductivity coefficient on insulating materials in dry
  • Laboratory measurement of thermal conductivity coefficient of construction materials with the increased thermal parameters in dry.
